A personal hobby of mine is learning languages. Having Manx ancestors, I decided to learn the Manx Language. Manx is not a common language, and as such, does not have very many resources available to learn it. Locals on the Isle of Man have done a fantastic job building up courses and resources to learn the language, but there are still many tools that should exist, namely a translator. Since I had just taken a few data science classes in my graduate studies, I tried my hand at creating a translator. I pulled various sources of data together including a dictionary, some stories and the Bible. After training a model on this data, I realized that just entering text from books is not the correct way of teaching a model how to translate a language. As such, this project is a work in progress while I translate phrases.
